The Tobacco Root Geological Society

Promoting the study of the geology of the Northern Rocky Mountain Province

About the TRGS

The Tobacco Root Geological Society is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to the study of geology of the Northern Rocky Mountain Province.

Membership: to join, come to a Conference, or click here and print this page and mail it with your check. Annual Dues are $25 for Professionals and $5 for students. Your dues entitle you to a copy of Northwest Geology, which contains the annual TRGS conference Proceedings, Guidebook and Field Trip Logs. The membership year is May 1 to April 30, so if you join in April, you'll get the previous year's guidebook unless you tell us you want to apply your membership to the following year that begins May 1.

If you're not on the mailing list, to e-mail Secretary Emily Ward, and we'll be sure to add your name.

The purpose of the Richard I. Gibson TRGS travel fund is to provide support for travel expenses (e.g. lodging, airfare, vehicle rental, or gasoline) to attend the TRGS summer field conference. The awards will be to undergrad and graduate students in geosciences, as well as to young professionals (to age 30 at the time of the award) including those in academia and other earth science disciplines. The award money available to applicants each year is $1,000. The maximum amount that can be awarded to one person is $500. Payments will be made after the conference.

Apply for the travel funding here. Applications must be submitted by July 1 each year. Awardees will be notified by July 14 if they have received the award.
